Weather Differences

This morning in Gearhart, our thermometer says 28F, AccuWeather says Grecia is 81F, low of 63 tonight, though ... soon, very soon!

Pretty much a "not packing" day for me ... sun was out, golf course called, then beach fire called, then neighbors called ... "pot luckin" it tonite!  Back at it tomorrow!

Packing and "Manifesting"

Please tell me I am not alone in that I HATE moving!  If moving isn't bad enough by itself, this is the first time I've ever done it where everything, I mean everything, has to go on a manifest.  So, today was packing more boxes, labeling them, numbering them, logging them on the manifest and, well, that's about it!  Too tired to take any photos of them tonight, but as time goes on, will maybe do that!  The pic below is from the "Sample" sent by the shipper ... MINE is MUCH neater <wink>

Fun Stuff, this!

Space (and other ) Bags & Cats

A couple months ago, I bought a box of Space Bags at Costco, thinking ... "well, these could be handy".  Little did I know.  Given that we have decided on a 20' container, space may become an issue, so I finally tried the large CUBE one.  I am amazed at how much I got in it ... and I may open it up and see how much more I can fit.  Too bad they don't work on hard items!

Bags, other.  As in Pet Carriers.  So we have these two kitties, Sandy & Kiki ... or Booboo and Bubba if you ask Roy ... or Princess & Queenie ... or, well you get it.  I am certain they are both excited about their move to the tropics too, NOT.  Sandy has always been a "skittie kittie", while Kiki is known as the neighborhood "dog whisperer".  We aren't the sort of people who take them wherever we go, so naturally, they don't travel well.  After our last Tsunami evacuation, we found Sandy's fingernails all over the seat of the truck from trying to get out of the wire-door carrier in which we had contained her.  Fortunately, she did not seem to be hurt (except pride), but that incident taught us that wire-door carriers were not for her.  Due to that incident, when we began shopping for "airline friendly" pet carriers, we naturally looked at the soft sided ones. Given the fact that Sandy is poly-dactyl and her nails have grown back with a vengeance we envisioned the mesh being totally shredded by the time we even GOT to the airport ... so the search continued.  Whatever did we DO before "the googles"?

Then, I found the "Bark n Bag" ... I know, sounds like a doggie thing, but I really think it could turn out to be the answer to our problems ( ... she typed with fingers crossed ... ).  We have been feeding cat treats inside them, to habituate, and will try them to the vet on January 3 for their "pre-flight physicals".
What do you think?

The Adventure Begins!

So, the adventure begins!  Will be sharing tidbits on our journey into the tropics on this blog ... from time to time.

In June, I flew to Costa Rica and bought a house!

Now comes the "fun" part!  On January 11, our container arrives (around 9:00 am) and we have get to fill it in 4 hours.  Thank goodness we've got a lot of friends committed to help.  Once we get there (on January 16), we will be "camping" in said house until our worldly possessions arrive ... between 4 & 8 weeks, I understand.   Once the container arrives, "let the remodeling begin"!

The Interior currently looks like this:

With "shotgun" bedrooms ... all in a row, with no hallway.

Roy has preliminary plans that will give us more space with less rooms, but final plans have to wait for him & his trusty contractor's tape.  Enough of this for now ... gotta get "packin"!  More later, Pura Vida, Kathleen
