Wednesday night, upon our return from the Valley (sure hope Julio
can figure out what is wrong with his Mercedes SUV), we gifted the boys with
Frisbees & a ball and bat as a token of our appreciation for their attempts
at locating Kiki the day before. They
were like, well, Kids @ Christmas! The
three of them (& Roy) played with the toys for a while (OK, I hit a homer
across the street) and all of a sudden, their Grandmother (abuela) shows
up! Her name is Clarisia and she is a
very charming and gracious lady. We
visited for about an hour, had juice, many laughs and even learned some
interesting tidbits about the neighborhood.
Seems that the former owner of this house, Don Alexis (who did us no
favors) used to feed the barky neighbor dogs PILES of sweet bread, so now we
know that they are looking for. Not
going to get it from us, though.
Before Clarisia left, she invited us to her home, which is not
all that common. Here, usually one only
invites family or very close friends into one’s home, so this is quite an
honor. We seem to be being readily
accepted into the neighborhood, maybe it is just curiosity though, as the only
other gringo we know of in the immediate neighborhood isn't all that
gregarious. Time will tell.
